Mars Cats Voyage Collection
Pixels Game (Referral)
Blocktones Collection

Mars Cats Voyage cats (the whole 10k collections) have been integrated into Pixels. It was a massive undertaking but the end result is amazing. Every Mars Cat holder can play Pixels using any cat they own. For the first time Mars Cats leap off the NFT and move into the Metaverse.

Taking traits from the original collection (200+), I pixelated them all, then animated them. From there the traits are layered in-game to make the final cat. The traits used to make up a cat are pulled from the NFT a player owns.

There are 5 animations total: Idle, Walk, Eat, Jab and Slash. Idle and Walk are both 12 frame animations. Eat, Jab and Slash are all 6 frame animations. Slash and Jab are not used in-game yet but as the game evolves, more will be added and, there will be uses for those animations in the future.

Once the collection was integrated, I created a video promo to let the world know. I sourced the video (from play sessions) and the audio from another NFT collection called Blocktones. So far the video has got over 24k views on X.

Grammar in Action https://staging.wgcny.com/projects/grammar-in-action/ Sat, 09 Nov 2024 16:22:56 +0000 https://staging.wgcny.com/?post_type=project---new&p=725 Art/Design and Animation: Wesley Gunn

When VHL wanted to create a new grammar tutorial series they reached out to me for the art and animation. This 32 video series teaches grammar in a cool and fun way. Together, Alesha and I came up with a character named Zippy. A happy-go-lucky squirrel, Zippy makes learning fun. Zippy takes you through grammar basics while Zipping around the screen and sometimes acing out what’s being learned. Zippy keep the viewer engaged in the learning process.

We designed the series to be easy to view, with vibrant colors and abstract backgrounds, which is great for the creative side Zippy shows off when doing examples.

Below is a reel comprised of snippets from the 32 video series.

Listos is a Spanish language leaning tutorial with 24 videos in the set. Alesha and I crated the 2 main character named Alba and Javier. These two young teachers take viewers on a cultural exploration while teaching the Spanish language.

A lot of effort and detail went into the backdrops for the 2 stars of the series. Travel as you learn from the park to the beach, in the jungle or at home indoors. Each scene is tailored to make you feel like you are there, while also acting as a interactive involvement for our teachers.

Each video is about 2-5 minutes in length. And there are some additional characters and animals that also make an appearance as part of the overall lessons being taught. Below is a sample reel of the videos, set to music, which will give you a taste of what the the series is like.

Pea3, a Co-Founder of MystiC, is a gaming legend in his own right. And as such it only made sense that he have is own branding. Pea3 gave me a lot of leeway and I mocked up several options for him to choose from. We landed on a lion as mascot, and kept the neon pink and blue to help tie it to MystiC.

His mascot wears a neon blue suit with pink shirt, giving off a Miami vibe, with shades that look as cool as he does. We gave P3 his own set of Twitch assets and social banners. And I even put together a video reel for him, digging through hours of footage to clip the best parts together. He wanted a long-form video to start with (seen below), then quicker shorter videos after for social posts.

————————–

When Wesley (yes the clients name is Wesley too!) reached out about starting an ESports team, he asked me to do the whole branding. Starting with the M (for MystiC) logo, we slowly built out a look and feel he was happy to dawn and push to the world. Taking on a unicorn as a mascot, we incorporated it into the logo, but gave it the logo icon tattoo and glowing pinkish/red eyes to match it’s mane and horn. We added in the blood spatter to give it a more violent feel, matching the feel of the games that they would be playing.

The dark tones with neon highlights gave it a bit of a retro-futuristic look. The full-body mascot wears a leather outfit with the neon pink/blue shirt for a pop of color. And those colors are used across all Twitch and social assets to keep them all in the same family.

Lastly, I put together a promotional video for the announcement of the team/launch of Mystic. I sourced the audio, edited the source video, then animated it and exported it for release. It was received with great success.

When the team at Vorp wanted to change up thier streaming intro, they reached out to me with a fun idea. As GTA role-play players, they wanted their new intro set inside the world of GTA. But with minor changes to represent their personal story.

I was sent some in-game screenshots to work from. For each I recreated the scene, and broke it into parts for animation. It was a long process, as GTA is a hyper realistic style. So there were a ton of details to recreate. In the end the result was a fantastic looking into that viewers enjoyed watching. So much so they started using it for intermissions as well!

Reference Screenshot: This is one sample of the reference provided.

Recreated Scene: In this first scene you can see how the recreation is different in look and detail from the reference. All images that follow went through the the same reference/recreation process, but only the recreations are being displayed.

Client: IIPOG

IIPOG reached out to me when he wanted a new intro and wallpaper (plus a few info panels) for his streaming setup. IIPOG ran with a crew in GTA and wanted to use them in the artwork. He sent over in-game character shots which were used as reference for the characters in the artwork.

We did a wallpaper design that included 11 characters from his crew. After several mocks we landed on an upshot that fit all 11 character nicely. From there I worked up each character individually then overlapped them for the final composite.

We also used a few of the characters in the intro/offline pieces. The offline one is static, but the intro is animated. It’s setup to loop seamlessly and without audio. IIPOG wanted to be able to change up the music being played from his end so we left audio out.

The final art pieces and animation turned out great and really gave IIPOG the vibe he wanted. The community really liked the upgrade, so much so that a few of them reached out to me for work citing IIPOG’s stream package as the reason.

Crazy Squares: Milk River Run https://staging.wgcny.com/projects/crazy-squares-milk-river-run/ Fri, 23 Feb 2024 21:24:00 +0000 https://staging.wgcny.com/?post_type=projects&p=470 Art/Design/Animation: Wesley Gunn

Client: MRM / General Mills

When MRM partnered with General Mills to make a new Cinnamon Toast Crunch game, they reached out to me on the heels of the successful Legend of Fat Ninja game launch. The idea was simple, a fun game for kids an adults starting the CTC Squares characters that are very popular and iconic. The CTC Squares had wild personalities, giving us a great starting point to work from. And as they were known to be cannibals, we tough an endless runner (where you try to avoid being eaten while eating other squares!) only made sense.

Working closely with the producers we developed the game concept. I built out wire frames and various art samples for consideration. And when we landed on the style and fleshed out all the game needs, I went to work on the art and animation. From there the dev team was brought on. And while hey were busy coding the game I was busy building out the UI design.

The end result was a game that launched with great fan fair and received a warm welcome from the CTC and gaming communities. and made many people, myself included, hungry for those crazy squares!

Working with some incredible talent (listed above) and Cartoon Network, we brought back a concept for the Teen Titans Go property called Drillionaire 2. Drillionaire was such a hit we started on the second one right away. It was a lot of fun to dive back into the world of TTGO with all new characters set on another planet!

This time The Titans are off to visit Starfire’s home planet of Tamaran. But when the royal palace crumbles before them, it’s up to Cyborg to drill to the bottom of this mystery. Battle subterranean monsters and dig up buried treasure to help rebuild the Tamaranian palace.

————————–
Working with some incredible talent (listed above) and Cartoon Network, we came up with a concept for the Teen Titans Go property called Drillionaire. Drillionaire takes classic game play and pairs it with the zany world of TTGO. I was tasked with creating a game world and user interface that would match the style of The Titans, as well as creating characters and animations that would make the game fun and exciting. Working with this property was incredibly fun. And the story line we came up with made it easy to go wild with our imagination.

Drillionaire – Teen Titans Go! is an exciting browser-based game that immerses players in the exciting world of the Teen Titans. Raven banishes Terra from Titans Tower, and Beast Boy goes to save her. In the process he destroys the Tower! Now it’s up to Cyborg to fix it… and maybe even upgrade it.

Drillionaire is a mining game inspired by games like Dig Dug and MegaMiner. Drill through the earth collecting minerals and upgrade your drill with the money you earn. Dig deeper, avoid (or battle) enemies and keep collecting money to rebuild Titans Tower. Finally, rescue Beast Boy from Terra. But beware! The subterranean world is fraught with danger.
