Mars Cats Voyage Collection
Pixels Game (Referral)
Blocktones Collection

Mars Cats Voyage cats (the whole 10k collections) have been integrated into Pixels. It was a massive undertaking but the end result is amazing. Every Mars Cat holder can play Pixels using any cat they own. For the first time Mars Cats leap off the NFT and move into the Metaverse.

Taking traits from the original collection (200+), I pixelated them all, then animated them. From there the traits are layered in-game to make the final cat. The traits used to make up a cat are pulled from the NFT a player owns.

There are 5 animations total: Idle, Walk, Eat, Jab and Slash. Idle and Walk are both 12 frame animations. Eat, Jab and Slash are all 6 frame animations. Slash and Jab are not used in-game yet but as the game evolves, more will be added and, there will be uses for those animations in the future.

Once the collection was integrated, I created a video promo to let the world know. I sourced the video (from play sessions) and the audio from another NFT collection called Blocktones. So far the video has got over 24k views on X.

Fire Sevens https://staging.wgcny.com/projects/fire-sevens/ Fri, 23 Feb 2024 21:31:00 +0000 https://staging.wgcny.com/?post_type=projects&p=648 Art/Design: Wesley Gunn
Producer: Guillume
Client: GIMO

————————–

The Fire Sevens casino slots game was a blast to work on. Having worked with Guillume in the past, when he approached me to work on this I was all-in. We referenced an older slots game he had made, and wanted to give it a new name and design. We settled on Fire Sevens as the name, and from there I started building out the logo. I then created the game icons. Between the logo and icons, they helped give me a sense of the over all style and look we wanted to go for.

They wanted a more upscale version of the slots game compared to the older one, and we choose gold as the main look to go along with the icons and logo. We also played up elements of fire/heat to go along with the game name. The special 7 is made up of fire for example. And the UI is red in places (which also helps contrast against the green buttons).

The game was designed to be played on the web and on mobile. And even setup so you could play vertically or horizontally to match your preference. We even added in a mini card game as a bonus.

Crazy Squares: Milk River Run https://staging.wgcny.com/projects/crazy-squares-milk-river-run/ Fri, 23 Feb 2024 21:24:00 +0000 https://staging.wgcny.com/?post_type=projects&p=470 Art/Design/Animation: Wesley Gunn
Development: HAM
Client: MRM / General Mills

When MRM partnered with General Mills to make a new Cinnamon Toast Crunch game, they reached out to me on the heels of the successful Legend of Fat Ninja game launch. The idea was simple, a fun game for kids an adults starting the CTC Squares characters that are very popular and iconic. The CTC Squares had wild personalities, giving us a great starting point to work from. And as they were known to be cannibals, we tough an endless runner (where you try to avoid being eaten while eating other squares!) only made sense.

Working closely with the producers we developed the game concept. I built out wire frames and various art samples for consideration. And when we landed on the style and fleshed out all the game needs, I went to work on the art and animation. From there the dev team was brought on. And while hey were busy coding the game I was busy building out the UI design.

The end result was a game that launched with great fan fair and received a warm welcome from the CTC and gaming communities. and made many people, myself included, hungry for those crazy squares!

Working with some incredible talent (listed above) and Cartoon Network, we brought back a concept for the Teen Titans Go property called Drillionaire 2. Drillionaire was such a hit we started on the second one right away. It was a lot of fun to dive back into the world of TTGO with all new characters set on another planet!

This time The Titans are off to visit Starfire’s home planet of Tamaran. But when the royal palace crumbles before them, it’s up to Cyborg to drill to the bottom of this mystery. Battle subterranean monsters and dig up buried treasure to help rebuild the Tamaranian palace.

Working with some incredible talent (listed above) and Cartoon Network, we came up with a concept for the Teen Titans Go property called Drillionaire. Drillionaire takes classic game play and pairs it with the zany world of TTGO. I was tasked with creating a game world and user interface that would match the style of The Titans, as well as creating characters and animations that would make the game fun and exciting. Working with this property was incredibly fun. And the story line we came up with made it easy to go wild with our imagination.

Drillionaire – Teen Titans Go! is an exciting browser-based game that immerses players in the exciting world of the Teen Titans. Raven banishes Terra from Titans Tower, and Beast Boy goes to save her. In the process he destroys the Tower! Now it’s up to Cyborg to fix it… and maybe even upgrade it.

Drillionaire is a mining game inspired by games like Dig Dug and MegaMiner. Drill through the earth collecting minerals and upgrade your drill with the money you earn. Dig deeper, avoid (or battle) enemies and keep collecting money to rebuild Titans Tower. Finally, rescue Beast Boy from Terra. But beware! The subterranean world is fraught with danger.

Working with some incredible talent (listed above) and Cartoon Network, we came up with a game concept for the Teen Titans Go property called Panic Mode. We crafted several design mocks and landed on a style that not only fit the cartoon, but also appealed to all ages. All of the Art, Design and Character Animation was created by Wesley Gunn (with the exception of a few pieces of Key Art).

Panic Mode is a tower defense game. Place towers on the board to destroy wave after wave of the Brain’s army. Each tower is themed after a different Titan: Cyborg’s sonic cannon, Raven’s magic, Robin’s birdarangs, Starfire’s starbolts, Beast Boy’s elephant stomp, and Silkie’s chomp!

In-Game: Created all UI assets, Game Items and Characters. Animated all characters, weapons and sfx.

Game Screens: Designed Level map, games screens like winner/loser screens and pop-ups.

Working with some incredible talent (listed above) and Cartoon Network, we came up with a concept for the Adventure Time property called Royal Ruckus. This was our second game for CN (after Batman: Gotham Streets). We had a great time working on this. And for a few parts I pulled on some freelancers to help with some of the art assets.

With Royal Ruckus we really pushed ourselves and made a much more robust game then the first one. It took a lot of time and effort, with so many characters to create/animate. And a TON of dungeon rooms and UI assets to design and draw. We put effort into making cool mazes and maps, as well as really detailed boss battles.

Royal Ruckus is a dungeon crawling game. Enter the Dungeon of the Crystal Eye and see what Princess Bubblegum is up too! In this maze you need to find a way to survive. You can play as Marceline or Lumpy Space Princess. Each has thier own special moves which makes playing the game again really fun and different.

During my time at Nickelodeon I did work as an artist, designer and animator. A lot of the stuff I worked on no longer exists. Below is a snippet of the type of work I did during my 7 year stint.
